Yesterday I came across two fun and interesting uses of large language models, in quick succession.
First, I saw commenting about how brutal a web app called is, in analysing a users profile and repository history. Thats a very accurate assessment. The app uses OpenAIs GPT-4o to create a short and harsh roasting for a given profile. The result for my profile was sufficiently uncomfortable to read, that I swiftly moved on!
Very soon afterwards, my friend Tim Kellogg , which takes a different angle. has a fantastic strapline:
Instead of trying to tear each other down with AI, why not use it to help lift others up

If were going to use these sorts of tools and make these kinds of apps lets do so in a positive manner. Notwithstanding the very real issues with the overuse of resources, and the moral and legal debates around how the models have been trained both of which I have huge concerns about I strongly believe that technology has the capacity to have a positive impact on society when used well, ethically, and thoughtfully. Like everything else though, it is up to us to make the best, and most positive use of what we have access to, what we create, and what we leave behind in the world. It is our individual, and our collective, responsibility.

Having been born and raised in Indy, I always wandered if/when the music scene there would produce a band that broke out to become nationally/internationally known. Similar-sized cities nearby have done so, but aside from John Mellencamp from Bloomington/Seymour, the locally grown success list is kinda sparse. Granted Axl Rose (Guns N Roses) is from Lafayette and David Lee Roth (Van Halen) is from Bloomington, but their bands were not organically grown in Central Indiana.
Triple Seven by Wishy Source: imusic.dkappears to be filling that void as they certainly have been and across the pond in Britain where has been raving about them. It is also really nice to soak-up and enjoy the comeback of multi-layered guitar-driven rock by new bands like Wishy and . Bring on more of this music industryplease!
Hope or Wish(y) all of you get a chance to check out this terrific band, as their musical trajectory is rocketing onward and upward. Given how engaging and enjoyable Wishys music is, the plaudits are very well deserved.
