Today was an extraordinary day as I introduced my SPARTA Strength Class at the 2024 Milano Center Olympics in Melrose!
The energy was electric as participants of all ages (65-95), abilities, and diverse backgrounds came together to experience new exercises, including the revitalizing battle ropes.But it wasn't just about physical strengthit was about the power and joy of movement

Summer Vacation: age unknown, of the United States passed away recently after years of dismemberment and wilfill neglect by politicians, school boards, athletic directors/coaches, and some team parents.
Summer will always be remembered for her spirit, joyous fun, excitement, and carefree nature. Those who once knew her will forever be saddened by her untimely passing in favor of longer school years, travel sports, and extended athletic seasons.
She is survived by her parents Mother Nature and Old Man Winter, as well as her siblings Spring, Fall, and Winter. Father Time will preside over her funeral at the Church of the June Solstice. There will be no visitation due to a previously scheduled high school football game that mid-August night.
Gifts in lieu of flowers should have been made to the Preserve Summer Conservancyif it had ever existed. Burial will be private at a long-lost camp closed for lack of attendance.

- Who doesnt recall the excitement at the approach of summer vacation as the school year reached its conclusion
- Who doesnt remember attending summer camp somewhere up north, in the mountains, or in the woods
- Who doesnt fondly recall family road trips across the country,
- Who wouldnt want to play kickball, hopscotch, , or yet again
- Who can forget riding your new stingray bike around the neighborhood to show it off to your best friends
- Who didnt set up a lemonade stand or spend many days at the poolor at the beach
These amazing memories have been cut short by our incessant need to organize, structure, and compartmentalize every aspect of our kids lives. This may be partially due to the need for two income households, but it also is greatly influenced by elongated school years and an overemphasis in year-round competitive sports over other activities and hobbies. Grantedvideo games and the like have also cut into the time kids spend outdoors.
Heaven forbid if XYZ High School has a better football, soccer, or basketball team than us! We must start training and practicing the very instant the current school year ends!
All this blog author sees is Summer Vacation first being compacted into a narrow window that left little room for just being a kid. It has altered our timelines and the economies of resort towns. It has contributed to compacting summer travel into mass tourism. And in many ways it has damaged our collective and individual psyches leaving little room for anyone, especially our kids, to just breathe.

I am loving the "Trois Coups" at the in Paris!
That's the baton that someone bangs 3 times onto the floor before an event starts. Trois = three, coups = strikes. (It's also called a brigadier.)
It's a tradition to announce the reveal of the mystery of truth - father, son, holy ghost. It symbolises the trinity.
It was later used to announce that a (theatre) was about to start.
