Here we have Microcivilization the incremental game by indie developer Ondrej Homola, it launched on Steam in January 2026. There are some elements of strategy here, too, making it one of the more advanced clicker games weve played.
Starting at the dawn of civilization, you take control of human history (one mouse click at a time) and develop out your kingdoms, avert disasters, and try to micromanage everything. Fun Yes, and sometimes no.
Take on Developing all of Human History in Microcivilization
Okay, we included this one in our list of . Theres a reason for that, despite the hodgepodge start of the whole thing.
The main problem with Microcivilization is in the opening 30 minutes. The dev hasnt done a good job explaining what youre supposed to do, with instructions often whizzing by too quickly, plus those instructions are sometimes in broken English.
Shock horror, it means the player has to throw themself into it and work stuff out as things trundle along.
That intro to the game is clumsy and frustrating, although its something the dev can patch at a later date. Itd be worth it, as once you get into this click/incremental game its an often compelling time of it.
Events begin in ancient times and you click to gather resources, watch humans grow and develop, and expand in population size. The bigger your population, the much more tricky it gets to keep control of everything. Behold!
Where things get tricky is with several factors. You cant:
- Build too many homes at once, or youll risk fires
- Have a population surge, or there may be starvation
- Click too much at once, or therell be more fires
- Do anything at all too much, without considering the consequences (you get the idea)
Theres an auto-clicker you set across certain resource management tools, which takes care of the above so youre not constantly over developing things.
REMINDER ALERT!!! This is an incremental game, not a (1998). The point of the genre is kind of background noise (idle games), where you leave them running and half pay attention. All whilst you either do some work, listen to a podcast, comb your hair, pick your nose etc. etc.
Some of these games have ended up overwhelming our very being ().
Microcivilization isnt on that level, but it is still a good incremental clicker game and well worth a peek. If youre new to the genre itll probably baffle you a bit (due to the lack of clear instructions), but if you know this sort of stuff well you should be okay.
The end result Again, its good. It isnt the best incremental game on the market, but it does offer something a bit different. And we do love its distinct art style. Its just not quite as captivating a concept as some of our favourites from this cult genre.

Cat Isle: The Super Charming Pixel Art Management Sim
The super cute and relaxing Cat Isle is the work of small indie teams domkegames and pixelduckoo. This is cat preference management sim that took inspiration from some of Japans cat-based islands.
It launched on 20th July 2026 and is out on Steam. The goal is to build out a little island with shops, restaurants and the like, all whilst cats frolic about the place Yay Meow.

Its no surprise many indie game devs have a go at making a cat-based game, its a great way to get some quick attention. Cat Isle delivers more than a gimmick, though, as this is a beautiful and charming little game.
To get going is simple. You start the game, get an island, and there are many black cats. From there, you must get on with basic resource management tasks.
Where it delivers on its potential is with every cat. Each one has specific likes and dislikes, so you have to work out which one likes what. And many cats come and go through the transport systems to the island. Behold!
As you can see, if you watch that clip, there are regular nods to the . Always a welcome addition.
Anyway, the point is the cats visit the shops and build out their preferences. In real life, our cat (Susan) really loves pork, beef, chicken, and turkey. But shes so-so on duck.
In this game, the cats are just as finnicky with their lifestyle habits.
As you get things right, you unlock over 100 decorations (you shake a Gashapon machine to get them), and make the island all fancy and that. This makes the animals happy and they keep on hanging around. All whilst you listen to composer Leonardo Porros ambient music.
And thats it! Manage cats, decorate, develop out shops, and chillax. Exactly why the cosy game genre is on its unstoppable, merciless journey in the indie game world mowing down all before it.
The genre is relaxing vibes for difficult times and we dig it.

When a joke becomes a social experiment for blind and sighted.
I honestly don't know how accurate the image was, but I generated an image with AI, prompting it to create a guide dog, whose name was Boiron. The name engraved on the collar's pendant while on his guide, dressing him, there was a badge with words "Blind International Assistance Services".
It was 2024, or even before my blind people's network, on Facebook, was all excited because I got a guide dog. And of course I played along. Sooner or later, they'll notice something wrong.
And sighted didn't say a word. Or normal words, such as "bring him at work, we're pleased to meet him". Although I'd have expected a storm of comments such as "sorry, this AI doesn't prepare accurate pics. The joke didn't work as you expected".
Then I changed. I just said "I posted the wrong pic, nothing to do, I'll ask for help to photograph him later" and I repeated "his name is Boiron, he's a lab dog, coming from Blind International Assistance Services".
No one of my then bubble, understood that I was making a fool of them in every single word.
Boiron is a famous company of homeopathic products, while Blind International Assistance Services, is the extended acronym of Bias.
The social experiment is on how people tend to be distracted by surface, without reading in deep. And I'm talking about friends, or people I meet at work or on line for real purposes. People who mostly know me.
Or they get distracted by images, or by the event (I'm not going to get a guide dog so it has sounded exceptional). So, they didn't focus on what I proposed them: WORDS.
