Paddling back in time: Riding the Dixie Sternwheeler
We recently had the opportunity to ride one of Americas oldest sternwheel propelled boats, in , Indiana.
Operating since 1929, The Dixie began service asa method for delivering groceries, ice, passengers, and mail to homes and cottages on 653 acre . It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
Source: maps.apple.comToday, it serves primarily as a non-profit tourist attraction and also provides a unique venue for reunions, graduations, receptions, and similar events. Incorporated into this post are several photos from its daily summer sunset cruise.
